First of all: it’s a serious news and I’m not a doctor, if you have any doubt please ask a doctor.

Bad news for users of gel nails: the UV lamps used to dry the nails seems to cause skin cancer. Don’t panic if you apply gel nails a couple of times per year, it seems that there is a cancer risk if you apply gel nails very frequently (at least one-two times a month).
If you use gel nails please ask a doctor for advice.

I made a little survey about the best and most beloved nail polish colors, searching the web and asking a lot of friends. So the winners are:

  • Rouge Nour/Vamp by Chanel
  • Ballet Slippers by Essie
  • Nail Laquer Pur No. 11 by Yves Saint Laurent (which is said to be the world’s best red)
  • I’m not realy a waitres by OPI

And what is your favourite?

very important information!

I used a nail glue to apply my artificial nails but it was a different brand than the nail product itself. Now, I can’t get the artificial nails to come off. What do I do?

In most instances the brand of nail glue used shouldn’t matter. However, in a few there is a strange interaction between the acrylic nails and the glue. Usually, it results in nails that won’t stay on rather than ones that won’t come off. However, either problem is possible.

Try soaking your nails in acetone nail polish remover for five to 10 minutes; no longer than 15. Make sure to work the solution in underneath the nails as much as possible. The nails and glue should soften sufficiently to allow nail removal even if they peel away in sections rather than in a single piece. If that doesn’t work, however, you may have to use pure acetone, which is much harsher to skin and cuticles.

  1. Your nails grow about one millimeter a week. This seames little but compared to the average size of a nail it’s quite a lot.
  2. Bad nutrition does also influence the nails growth – so for example white dots often indicate an insufficiency of calcium. On the other hand a mostly low-fat diet stimulates the nails growth.
  3. It takes about three to four month to renew completely your nails.

Acrylic nails look more natural, last longer and are thinner.

After a lot of experience and discussions with friends I can tell you that the Gel or Acrylic decision is a very personal one. Try one, and if its not working for you, you know you need to switch  everyone seems to prefer something different when it comes to nails.

Acrylic nails nails are not easy to be applied, you must be very experienced and skilled otherwise the result look sooooo good.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: it seems that usage of gel nails may cause cancer (if UV lamps are used). Please ask a doctor if you are not sure!!!

This all depends on how you care for your nails and if you have the time to get your nails manicured and filled every two weeks. Because of the cost not everyone can really afford having their nails done every two weeks. Many who take care of their own nails do self manicures every week and their nails look just as wonderful as those who choose acrylics.

Acrylic nails have come along way. You can get a French manicure done and change the tip color (part that is normally white) from white to any color in the rainbow with glitter if you like!
The good news about acrylic nails depending on where you get them done, they can look just as if it was your own natural nails! The type of acrylic nails that look the most like your own is called “Pink and White”. The way this works is the pink is the base part of your nail. You can receive a pink that closest to your own. Your nail tech will be able to show you all your choices. “Pink and White” will cost you a bit more and they are worth the money if you just want nails that look just like your own.
Please note that you don’t have to get the square shape nail tip! Besides it doesn’t look all that natural and if you want nails that look best, they need to be the same shape as your nails are now. “Pink and White” will really look like yours only better! Your nail tip needs to be oval but just a little bit square. This looks more like your own natural nail shape. “Pink and White” are great for those who do not want to wear nail polish due to job or personal choice. Easy to care for, look amazing on all skin tones.

As with all types of acrylics, your own nail will be come softer. As long as you wear acrylics that point doesn’t matter. Remember this point also, your nail tech when using the drill on your nail base should never cause you pain! If they do, get a new nail tech! Having your nails done is not something that should be painful!

Another rare problem that could happen, you can get a fungal infection on the base of your nail. If you have acrylic nails and they lift, you can get water trapped under the acrylic next to your nail. The water will turn green and can strain your nail. This is something that happens very rarely, if you have a good nail tech this it won’t happen. If this was to happen you would have to have your acrylic nails removed till it clears up. It is just something to think about.

When you visit a nail salon for the first time, take the time to ask questions. Watch how the nail techs talk with each other. If they speak another language and this bothers you, then that may not be where you want to get your nails done at. Also take into account the cost of having them done every two weeks including the cost of the first set.

Doing your nails or having your nails done for you, remember this point. Beautiful nails will never go out of style!

I love acrylic nails, they are perfect for pink and white. That’s why I dedicate a website to the topic, it doesn’t matter whether you are considering acrylic nails for a special occasion (your wedding for example) or for everyday life, in this site you’ll find useful information about acrylic nails and more in general about artificial nails. Somebody call them fake nails, I don’t like this term it sounds a bit negative. Acrylic nails make you beautiful, why to talk about a fake!?
